The NSW Community Rugby Leagues Association (NSWCRLA) has today announced the launch of the Community Rugby League Growth Fund, a new $150,000 initiative designed to strengthen Community Rugby League across NSW and the ACT.

Funded by the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) through NSW Rugby League (NSWRL), the program will support affiliated Districts, Groups and Clubs to deliver safe, compliant, and thriving competitions across the State.

NSWCRLA Chair Kristie Laird said the fund represents an important investment in the people and places that keep Community Rugby League strong.

“This initiative is about supporting the volunteers and organisations at the heart of our game,” said Kristie. “Whether it’s improving safety and compliance, growing participation, or helping Clubs build their capability, this funding will make a real difference at the grassroots level.”

The funding will be distributed across three key streams:

  • Club and competition support – helping clubs and leagues deliver safe, well-run competitions.

  • Safe environments and volunteer capability – building the skills and capability of volunteers, including assistance with infrastructure-related grant applications.

  • Growth in participation and player retention – supporting initiatives that attract and retain players, particularly women and young people.

Round one will are now open, with further funding rounds anticipated based on demand and priorities across Community Rugby League.

Projects will be assessed by a Funding Committee comprising representatives from the ARLC, NSWRL, and NSWCRLA, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities for Community Rugby League across the State.

“We’re proud to work in partnership with NSWRL and the ARLC to deliver this program,” said Kristie. “By investing in our districts and their affiliated Clubs, we’re investing in the long-term sustainability and growth of Rugby League in NSW and ACT.”
